Over Owler Tor is a dramatic gritstone outcrop set just above Surprise View, not far from Hathersage. Less visited than nearby Stanage Edge or Mother Cap, it’s a quieter alternative with arguably even more impressive views across the Hope Valley and towards Higger Tor. The rocks themselves are scattered in unusual formations, providing plenty of interest for climbers, photographers, and walkers looking for a scenic spot off the beaten track. Its elevated position makes it a fantastic place to watch the sunrise or enjoy a peaceful evening watching the sunset over the heart of the Peak District.
