Wentworth Castle, located in Barnsley, is a beautifully restored 18th-century estate surrounded by 500 acres of historic parkland and gardens. Once the grand home of the Earls of Strafford, the site is now managed in partnership by the National Trust and Barnsley Council. Visitors can explore formal gardens, woodlands, and open parkland, as well as enjoy panoramic views across South Yorkshire from the estate’s high points. Notable features include the Victorian conservatory, the Ionic Temple, and the grand South Lawn. The gardens are particularly stunning in spring and summer when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom.
